Fabrics for Industry was started in 1986 in Delran, NJ by former employees of the W.W. Criswell Company, at the time a division of Wheelabrator Corporation. Wheelabrator produced the first dust collectors in the early 20th century to collect the fumes from foundry casting and metal cleaning operations to complement their shot blast and material handling equipment.
From the early 1960's to 1986, Criswell manufactured most of the new dust collector bags and relacement bags for W/A, as well as those for other OEM collectors. Criswell was known for it's high quality and innovative filtration materials and bag designs to meet the demands of various pollution control applications in all types of industries. They were the first to introduce homopolymer acrylics, anti-static materials and special finishes to extend bag life. They offered technical assistance at the customer's facility and laboratory evaluations at no additional cost.
By maintaining these standards and utilizing the knowledge gained in their Criswell experience, the founders and workers at FFI have continued this tradition of high quality service to the industrial marketplace. Solving customer problems is one of the biggest strengths of FFI. Realizing the value of this emerging company, Hydra-Matic Packing Co. put it's capital behind it and acquired FFI in 1990. A couple years later FFI moved it into it's larger and expandable facilities in Huntingdon Valley, PA. Hydra-Matic supports it's FFI subsidiary's commitment to continue their tradition of quality, innovation and service.
